In the practical day training you will learn how to safely apply the candles and how to give a facial and sinus massage.Â
Ear Candling can be used very effectively to ease a number of conditions, including:Â
• excessive or compacted wax in the earsÂ
• irritation in the ears and sinusesÂ
• pressure regulationÂ
• energetic revitalisationÂ
• relaxing and calming effectÂ
• reduction of snoringÂ
• Meniere’s diseaseÂ
• catarrhÂ
• asthmaÂ
• neuralgiaÂ
The candle itself creates a gentle warmth in and around the ears which stimulates to blood and lymph flow. This in turn helps the natural cleansing process of the ear by increasing the natural secretions.
The treatment can be known as Ear Candles, Thermal Auricular Therapy, Candling or Coning.Â
The candles work using the process of convection. The burning of the candle helps to draw softer waxes and toxins from the ear. Some of these are then oxidised or turned into vapours and burnt. The warm air from the burning candle passes into the ear canal before being gently drawn back up to the top of the candle in a chimney effect. The warm air containing the herbal extract vapours from the candle helps to soothe and invigorate the ear.Â
The use of heated hollow cane or candle structures dates back to around 2500BC. The ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Latin Americans, Indians and Shaman all show evidence of this work. The ancient Chinese are credited with believing that warming treatments help to soothe and heal the ear.
